As much as I hate to say it, as a Knicks fan (and a huge David Lee guy, who will now likely be traded for a PG), I think you are way undervaluing the Nets draft class. Putting the trade aside for a second, they turned three picks into three rotation players. Lopez is a solid big who will work hard (although I hate Stanford you gotta give props where they are due) and get better. I like Anderson a lot, he is young but has size, can shoot and is a player. I was very impressed watching him play this year. And CDR in the second round? A guy who is gonna attack the rack, play hard and can help on both sides of the ball. They move RJeff for a project with upside in the Chairman and a useless contract in Simmons. So you take a weak Eastern conference and put a team out there of young players with a lot of skills (Marcus Williams, Josh Boone, Devin Harris, Seann Williams, Chairman Yi, Lopez, Anderson, CDR, Kristic) with Vince...AND they are in better position to make the predictable Bron run. I was surprised to hear they got offered the expiring Wally World from the Cavs for Vince and said no thanks. I hate the Nets, but say Harris, Vince, CDR, Lopez, Williams or Kristic, with the rest of the young pups coming off the pine...thats pretty damn solid.

Pete...calling Westbrook the Jeff Green of PG is the single best analogy I have heard in the entire year of the 2008 NBA season. Perfect call...and I love that the Sonics just shot their leg off in this draft, and that this team makes absolutely no sense.

They have three legit talented PG's in Ridnour, Watson and Westbrook. One will be offered in a trade package, meaning Westbrook (a combo defensive guard that wont EVER be a top 10 PG in the NBA) has been tabbed as the future starter with probably Watson as his backup.

You have Kevin Durant playing...2 guard? SF? PF? I'm right now tabbing Kevin Durant to the "All-Amazing-Talent-That-Will-Never-Ever-Win" team of:
-Derrick Coleman
-Glenn Robinson
-Carmelo Anthony
-Kevin Durant
-Michael Beasley

I still can't believe they spent last year's pick on Jeff Green (who I LOVE as a versatile talent...but as more of 4th banana guy) that plays THE SAME POSITION as Durant. And when they already had an unsung Jeff Green type in Damien Wilkins, whose now been pushed out of the rotation.

Then they have Wilcox (good player, but like Sammy D, after 6 years shouldn't he have "gotten it" more by now?), Collison (hardworking but has never fulfilled his talent), three center stiffs in three years (Swift, Petro, Sene)...just added a fourth (Ibaka).

I mean, they demoted Carlimeso from head coach because he couldn't win with this roster? Who could? Presti had better be packaging one of the PF's, project C's, PG's and a 1st round pick for a legit all star...or else I seriously think he's gone nuts.

They have one and a half legit NBA starters on the team...Durant and Wilcox...and Green if they keep Durant at SG...and like the Bulls, a collection of good but not great pieces. Worst of all, what they need most is a true veteran presence to mentor Durant and teach him the game so he doesn't keep pulling 24 ppg, 5 rbd, 41 FG% seasons...and of course they have none. And they are about to move cities for the first time after four decades. Goooooo Sonics!

bski-
Relax man, this is a process that takes time. One pick in the draft, #16 at that, was all we had. Big Ed said he tried to get back in the draft and couldn't find any takers.
BTW, a GM is confident by nature, your doom and gloom is what makes the nation use terms like Negadelphia.
Let's be patient and allow the off season to continue.
I'm sure Billy King is waiting to see what happens next.

I'll say the same thing I said last night. Stefanski better have a solid plan to upgrade the team for this year, as none of our immediate needs were addressed yesterday. I'm hoping that he took Speights because he felt confident about bringing in a couple of needed pieces via trades and free agency.
