Sixers vs. Clippers: New Year’s Eve Win Is a MUST

I probably won't have the opportunity to watch much, if any of this game so I will leave the post game analysis to you guys in the comments.  This is a must win against ANOTHER injured team, that happens to be playing as bad or worse than our Sixers.  Chris Kama has been out a month with a foot problem and Zack Randolph is out as well. The Clippers made a lot of moves all of which have translated into a 8-22 record.  If you are looking for a worse shooting team than the Sixers you will see … [Read more...]

Phillies Rumors: Lowe to the Mets?

OK, so that's not really a Phillies rumor, but it affects us, and affects me personally. The rumor, being reported by ESPN, is that the Mets have offered Lowe a remarkably reasonable contract of 3 years, $36 million. Or, the same years, and only $8 million more than we gave the incomparable Adam Eaton. Originally, his agent, Scott Boras, had requested 5 years, $80 million and several teams understandably balked. Lowe was the one player I wanted the Phillies to go after in the off-season, and … [Read more...]

Sixers Trade Talk: Anatomy of a Champion

Doc and Moses

How do you effectively build a championship contending team?  What trades could/should the Sixers make?  What guys should stay and who should be dangled on the market as available through trade?  Those are some of the things I've been thinking about lately and how that relates to the Sixers.  A few things spurred this: all the recent trade talk, watching last year's NBA Finals again on NBATV and thinking back to previous NBA champions. When building a team the goal is putting together a … [Read more...]

Sixers No Match For Depleted Jazz

Here we go again. The Sixers are on the road against another strong opponent.  Again their opponent has been hit rather severely by the injury bug. Carlos Boozer is out and has been for the last 20 games (killing my fantasy team).  Back up power forward Paul Millsap is also out for a week or so with an injured knee.  He was playing extremely well before he got hurt in a starting roll.  Mehmet Okur has missed the last three games with back spasms but has said he expects to play tonight.  … [Read more...]

Eagles Rise From Ashes, Head to Minnesota

Cowboys Eagles Football

When I talked about the Eagles path to the playoffs three weekends ago, and when I had them buried last weekend after the Redskins debacle, I never expected that the season would turn out like this. Which part is more unbelievable? The Bears losing to the Texans? The Bucs not only losing to the Raiders at home, but blowing a 10-point lead to them and ending the season on a 4-game losing streak? Or us dismantling the Cowboys 44-6 in what was essentially a play-in game? In a year where the … [Read more...]

Sixers Disaster Through 29 Games

Mo Cheeks Retired Number

Disaster may be too strong to describe the Sixers start.  Disappointing and underwhelming are certainly accurate.  The Sixers are 12-17 and even as poorly as they have played  they still are only a game and a half out of the 8th playoff spot. We are more than a third of the way through this season and I just want to touch on a few things I haven't had a chance to formally cover. Coach Mo Was Fired, NOT #10 Every writer on staff at the Inquirer and the Daily News have unleashed their … [Read more...]

Andre Miller & Sixers F’ing Self-Destruct Against Denver

Denver will be without Carmelo Anthony tonight so the Sixers get a break there.  Unfortunately they've shown no inclination to take advantage of opponents who aren't full strength.  Willie Green practiced on Wednesday so I am assuming he will be back in the starting line up, especially considering Kareem Rush didn't very little with his opportunity. As always I am just hoping the Sixers to play hard and try and compete for 48 minutes, making for an entertaining game and a chance to win.   … [Read more...]

Happy Holidays from the Recliner GM

Happy Holidays

We just want to wish everyone a happy holidays!  Hopefully your holidays will be much more joyous than the Sixers and Eagles season have been. … [Read more...]

Sixers Trade Talk

Fair Sixers Trade Proposals

It's funny how things happen.  About this time last season all the Sixers trade talk started to get extremely heavy.  It was right after Billy King was fired and Stefanski came in as the new GM.  The Sixers record right before Christmas last year was 11-16 and they were 14-17 at the end of December. Then all the hoopla in the off-season optimism was high and expectations long.  Now, well the Sixers are pretty much in the exact same spot as last season at 12-16 today and I actually think … [Read more...]

Sixers Lose to Boston As Expected

Celtics

Honestly I got nothing else besides the headline.  This season has been pretty much a downer with the exception of Marreese Speights.  Boston is coming in on a ridiculous 18-game winning streak and  I don't think anyone here thinks the Sixers have a shot to win this game.  If some delusional hometown fan does - they sure wouldn't put their money on it.  The Sixers are a 13 and a half underdog tonight. Can the Sixers beat Boston?  Sure, it's the NBA, these guys are all pros and anything … [Read more...]
