Pitiful Phils Lose Nearly Unwatchable Game 2

ws2

I haven't watched a baseball game like this in a very long while. The reason being that in the regular season, when the Phillies play like this, I just change the channel or do something else. I do this for my own personal well-being and sanity. There is nothing more frustrating than watching a professional sports team make Junior Varsity errors. You feel that they should be embarrassed, and you feel embarrassed to be associated with them. This was the type of game you watch and wonder how it … [Read more...]

Hamels, Madson, Lidge Throw Phils To Game 1 Victory

ws1

Well, the Phillies won a game tonight that they probably shouldn't have. They left men on base, they had bad at-bats, they swung at bad pitches and they made base-running and fielding errors. But unlike almost any Phillies team we can remember, we won this game with pitching. Hamels looked very good but wasn't completely on. He still got us his solid 7 innings and 2 runs. Madson and Lidge didn't allow a baserunner and looked completely unhittable. I mean, completely unhittable. It's hard to … [Read more...]

World Series Preview: Phillies vs. Rays

wst

The perfect World Series. In March, if you had asked me to pick the World Series I would have most liked to see, this is what I would have said, probably while laughing a little at the impossibility of it actually happening. The Phillies against the Rays, an upstart squad full of exciting young players, the 2nd lowest payroll in the majors, the worst record in the league last year, and the one team capable of completely ticking off both Yankees and Red Sox fans by appearing. So how do we match … [Read more...]

Obama? Mccain? Nope. Vote for the Recliner GM

LA Ball Talk is running a great Top NBA Team Blog contest, and we've been nominated as one of the Sixers representatives. I don't think you guys need a campaign pitch so instead I will use this opportunity to remind you why you frequent this blog and to ask for suggestions. This blog is great because we have by far the most active and knowledgeable readers, and I think it's honest and fair to say the best part of the blog isn't what Pete and I write rather it is the comment section.  Pete … [Read more...]

Philadelphia Eagles at the Bye

Philadelphia Eagles

The Birds are 3-3 going into the bye week.  Before the season started looking at the schedule if you would have told me that would be the Eagles record, I would have been shocked and pessimistic about their playoff chances.  With the NFC East being as strong as it is, a .500 record likely would set us a ways back in our own division.  But thanks to some favorable outcomes in week 6 and bad luck for our division rivals, we are not in too bad shape. Washington loses to St. Louis, one of the … [Read more...]
