Magic Three Point Shooting To Much For Sixers to Overcome

Key to the game will be Sammy and Theo's ability to keep Dwight Howard from going crazy and the Sixers perimeter players being able to defend the three effectively.  Pretty much the same story every game.  Which is why these game posts are getting shorter and shorter.  I think we all know what the Sixers do well on a semi-consistent basis and what they struggle with game in and game out. I think we are at a point where we are just watching and waiting.  Waiting for them to prove they are … [Read more...]

Eagles Free Agency Rumors: Live Updates

nfl_g_houshmandzadeh_580

Happy Free Agency Day! The NFL has probably the craziest opening to free agency, as there appears to be very little negotiation between player and team and there is a ridiculous amount of movement right off the bat. For instance, the absurd $100 million contract Albert Haynesworth signed to join the Redskins. The Eagles have the 3rd most cap room in the NFL, and a couple extra draft picks, so it would be shocking if they don't make some improvements. Today, I'll be updating this page as I … [Read more...]

Sixers Get the Job Done Against the Knicks

The Sixers have beat the Knicks three times already this year.  This will be the final game in the series.  If the scores progress as they have in these match-ups the Sixers could end up on the wrong side.  The last three games: 116 - 87  (29-point win) 107 - 97 (10-point win) 116 - 110 (6-point win) The Knicks have won 3 of the last 5 and as usual are scoring a lot and not playing much defense.  The Sixers need not get caught up in their enticing run-and-gun style of play. What … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Wizards: This is Where the Losing Streak Ends

I don't have time to write a long pre-game analysis because I am about to run to a basketball game of my own.  But this needs to be a win tonight.  The bleeding must stop.  They are playing a team they have handled easily the previous three times they played them this season.  A lost tonight and this might be the lowest the Sixers have been since Cheeks was fired. This is the first game of a favorable 10 game stretch.  Win tonight and kick off at least a 7-3 run and start to cease … [Read more...]

Is McNabb the Good Guy or the Bad Guy?

Since every Philly media outlet will be talking about this this week, I figured I would get my 2 cents in and open up the discussion to see what other people think.  As you know, it was reported by ESPN's Michael Smith that the Eagles and McNabb had a lengthy discussion last week about his benching, his contract, and his future with the team. Smith reports that McNabb said he would not sign an extension until he saw what they did in free agency, i.e., get him some weapons. I don't know … [Read more...]

Ouch

The one good thing (for me at least) about the Sixers play is their unpredictability.  The unexpected is a big thing for me when it comes to sports.  It's why I love college basketball and the NCAA tournament so much (Pete and I will be at the first two rounds in Philly this year).  Ideally I would love for the Sixers to be consistently good.  Going into every game as a favorite expected to win.  Or at the very least be viewed as  worthy adversary to the elite. Sadly that is not the … [Read more...]

Eagles Rumors: Marvin Harrison homecoming?

patriots-colts-football-harrison

Well, this makes entirely too much sense, so I imagine we'll be hearing about it until it is resolved. It looks like the Colts will likely cut Marvin Harrison and his huge salary, making him a free agent. If this happens, the smart money would be on him landing with the Eagles, and here's why... The Eagles need a WR (duh) The Eagles have a history of not spending big money or high draft picks on WR, Harrison will require neither Harrison is from the Philadelphia area Harrison played … [Read more...]

The ReclinerGM’s 2009 MLB Preview: Philadelphia Phillies Bullpen

For other Phillies previews, as well as full team previews, click here The 3rd part of our 5-part Phillies preview will focus on what was the Phillies greatest strength in 2008, their bullpen. Since there are a lot more pitchers to go through here, we will look at only 2 categories, where they can improve, and what I expect in 2009.  Clay Condrey, RHP, Long Relief Where he can improve: Condrey really is what he is at this point, a 33-year old reliever who rarely pitches in close games … [Read more...]
