Phillies Rumors: Kendrick and Marson being shopped?

Just a real quick update here... With Kyle Kendrick being sent down to the minors, rumors are out there that he is being shopped for a RH bat off the bench, namely Jeff Baker of the Rockies. I have been of the opinion for well over a year now that Kendrick will never be even an average MLB pitcher. I would trade him for anything that would help the team.  On a more interesting note, Todd Zolecki is reporting that the Phillies have had talks with the Red Sox, who are desperate for a … [Read more...]

Eagles Rumors: Braylon Edwards in the WR mix?

Well, so far this year is shaping up like last year, with the Eagles being linked to every possible elite WR and thus far with absolutely nothing to show for it. The most recent rumor, arising from the owners meetings, is that the Eagles are interested in trading for the Browns WR Braylon Edwards, and the Browns, having already traded Kellen Winslow and likely lost Dante Stallworth to prison or suspension, are looking to give QB Brady Quinn no shot at having a decent first season by trading away … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Trailblazers: Great Game to Cap Off This Road Trip

You guys already know how I feel about the Sixers playing good teams.  These are the games we should pay the most attention to because it allows us to evaluate them against the level of competition they are striving to be.  How will they fare? Again we get to look at the Brandon Roy/Andre Iguodala match up.  And that is exactly how it should be.  I like Willie Green defensively but not against Roy.  He gives too much in terms of size and Roy has worked himself into an nice post scorer.  … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Kings: I Don’t Know What to Think

Is it a lock?  Is a definite loss?  Is it a toss up? I can't tell you because I have no clue.  That is your Philadelphia 76ers. There aren't any NCAA tournament games so I will actually watch this one all the way through.  After the last two games all I am looking for is some defense.  Need to see some played.  The Sixers gave up 245 points on 57% shooting the last two games.  You can't beat anyone playing that level of defense, not even the Kings. This game will look … [Read more...]

Eagles Rumors: Eagles sign FB Leonard Weaver

As you have probably heard by now, the Eagles signed versatile FB Leonard Weaver to a 1-year deal. It's clear the market for him wasn't as robust as his agent claimed (imagine that!). Weaver is about as big an upgrade you could hope for at the FB position for the Birds. He can run and will help our atrocious short yardage game, and he can catch a pass out of the backfield, and we know how much McNabb spread's the ball around. When we did our "you be the GM" feature, nearly everyone had signing … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Warriors: Get Back on Track

I am off the Sixers right now during the NCAA tournament so I am not sure how much of this game I will actually watch. The Phoenix loss was disappointing but not unexpected considering it was the second game of a back-to-back against a team that would test the Sixers defense for 48 minutes.  Tonight they face a similar style opponent in the Warriors.  I will say like I said last game it's about defense.  The Sixers are not a 7 seconds or less team.  They are a fast break team predicated … [Read more...]

Phillies’ 5th Starter Tracker

5th-starter

Been awhile since the last update here, but it still looks like a 2-man race between Chan Ho Park and J.A. Happ. I'm keeping Happ in the lead for now (only because Park has more experience in the bullpen), but Park has looked really good this spring and has been helped out by his new Jamie Moyer inspired change-up.  Another thing to keep in mind is that with Cole Hamels arm troubles (I thought if I mentioned my concerns on the blog enough, it wouldn't actually happen. No go on reverse … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Suns: Celebration is Over, Time to Get Back to Work

The title says it all.  Time for the Sixers to turn their attention and energy to the Phoenix Suns.  If they come into Phoenix still high off last night's game winner and unfocused they can lose this game that I think they certainly should win. Phoenix is reeling on 4-6 in their last ten and slipping further and further out away from a playoff berth if it's not a forgone conclusion already.  They are (should be) in full desperation mode and will come out and play their style with a ton of … [Read more...]
