Sixers Deliver a Body Blow to the Magic on Thad’s Last Second Shot

Huge win for the Sixers.  They showed great mental toughness in handling the Magics run, not folding and being the team to make more plays to win the game.  Thad's play was awkward but effective.  Howard mugged him but I don't expect anyone to get a foul call there.  He stuck with it, showed some good instincts and made the final winning play of many for the Sixers. Analyzing Game 2 Using the 6 Keys Put up more shot attempts. Sixers: 71 Magic: 73 Minus 2 Force turnovers and … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Magic Playoff Series: Game 3

What's the key to a Sixers win tonight?  Just one.  I want to hear what you think in the comments. Here are my concerns: Dug 18-point deficits in both games with the Magic shooting 28.6% from three Limited Sixers fast break points Weak rebounding Who is the 4th scorer? I understand the series has been ugly.  Neither team is playing their best.  Neither team is playing the way that got them to this point.  That bodes best for the Sixers - IF they take advantage of Orlando's … [Read more...]

ReclinerGM’s 2009 NFL Mock Draft

nflmockdraft

I don't consider myself an expert on the NFL Draft, but I am all jazzed up for Saturday and Sunday (even though if the Eagles don't end up with Moreno, Boldin or Wells, I'm going to be upset) and ESPN made a NFL Draft Machine, which means I'm going to mess around with it. I've kept up with all the rumors, did some quick research on team needs, and here is the way I think the first round will play out. Note that this not how I would draft (I think Stafford and the USC linebackers Cushing and … [Read more...]

89 mph fastball? Average breaking ball? We’re screwed…

Ugh, well it looks like after getting a lot of breaks last year, the baseball gods aren't going to be as kind to us this year. Just as Cole Hamels, the key to our season, starts to look like himself, he gets blasted in the left arm by a Prince Fielder line drive. Probably not a long term injury, but indicative of the way the year has gone so far, where every hint of momentum has been squashed.  Player of the Series: Matt Stairs (2-2, 1 HR, broke up no-hitter) Goat of the Series: Ryan Howard … [Read more...]

Sixers Miss Opportunity, Lose Game 2

Deflating loss for the fans and a missed opportunity for the Sixers that they need to quickly move on from and make the most of their new found home court advantage. Analyzing Game 2 Using the 6 Keys Put up more shot attempts. Sixers: 75 Magic: 79 Minus 4 Force turnovers and take care of the ball yourself. Sixers: 16 Magic: 13 Plus 3 Control the boards with a team approach. Sixers: 37 Magic: 44 Minus 7 overall and minus 5 on the offensive end No more "hope" … [Read more...]

Eagles Rumors: Birds in lead for Tony Gonzalez?

Don Banks of CNNSI.com is reporting that the Eagles are interested in acquiring Tony Gonzalez and may be in the lead for his services.  The buzz about the Chiefs resuming their attempts to trade veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez has restarted, and it sounds as if the Eagles might have nosed ahead of the Falcons as the most likely trade partner. Philly is thought to be willing to give up a third-rounder for Gonzalez. But Kansas City is seeking at least a second-round pick for a player it … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Magic Playoff Series: Game 2

Bogged down at work right now but wanted to get something up quick so you guys can get the Game 2 talk started in one place.  When I get off I will probably add to this post or just join in the comments. To jump thing off I will say this... The Sixers need to remember - they won the first game.  Regardless of regular season success against the Magic, they are 1-0 in the playoffs against this team. I thought Dileo had a solid defensive game plan that gave the Sixers a chance to win.  … [Read more...]

ReclinerGM’s 2009 Eagles Draft Preview

The Eagles altered their draft significantly this week by trading their 1st and 4th round picks to the Bills for OT Jason Peters. But, because of prior wheeling and dealing, that really just leaves us with a normal draft. They now have the following picks for this weekend's festivities.  1st Round - 21st 2nd Round - 53rd 3rd Round - 85th 5th Round - 141st 5th Round - 153rd 5th Round - 157th 5th Round - 159th 6th Round - 194th 6th Round - 195th 7th Round - 230th I fully expect … [Read more...]

Shut Up, Sheldon

As you probably heard, Sheldon Brown requested a trade today because other people are getting money and he forgot that he already got his.  Given the way that NFL contracts work, it is sometimes justified for a player to ask for a re-structuring of his contract. This is not one of those cases. Sheldon signed his contract in 2004 knowing full well that he was sacrificing a potentially bigger deal down the road for long-term security. If he didn't understand this, then his agent misled … [Read more...]
