Sixers Unveil New Uniforms for 2009-10

sixersuni1

I personally have been very excited for this day since the Sixers announced they were going back to their old logo. They said that the new unis would be similar to those worn by Moses, Charles and the Doctor, but would have a more modern feel. I always thought that if you are a classic team, you should never modernize your logo, and the Sixers certainly did the right thing by going back. You can see the result above and below are several more pictures  - I'll put my thoughts after the pictures … [Read more...]

Clinch Countdown Is On As Phils Face Marlins

This is first series that the Phillies could theoretically clinch. If they sweep the Marlins, and the Braves lose 3 as well, the division is ours. Unlikely, but we're close. We're close because the Phils took care of a good Braves team on the road in a series that they needed a whole lot more than we did. It is clear that the offense has struggled for consistency for awhile now, but we keep winning because of our starters. And, as we saw in last year's playoffs, it's pitching, not hitting … [Read more...]

Eagles Trounced by Explosive Saints

harrisshockey

I felt pretty good about this game heading into halftime - even with us down 4. Then, I blinked, and we were down 31-13 and the game was history. Given the ugly final score, 48-22, I think a lot of fans and writers will be inclined to over-react about this game. But, I don't feel all that different about the team than I did before hand. First of all, the Saints are the best offensive team in football. Just as we couldn't think our defense was that good after playing the Panthers, we can't … [Read more...]

What Should The Phillies’ Playoff Rotation Look Like?

9starts

Let's get right to it - below you will the stats of the Phillies starters over their last 9 starts. I picked 9 because that is how many starts Cliff Lee has had since joining the Phillies. So here is the question - presuming JA Happ comes back and pitches the way he has all year - how do you set up the playoff rotation? First, we have to look at the schedule. 10/7 - NLDS Game 1 10/8 - NLDS Game 2 10/9 - Off 10/10 - NLDS Game 3 10/11 - NLDS Game 4 10/12 - Off 10/13 - NLDS Game … [Read more...]

Who is the Phils MVP? (And Some Other Stuff)

Phils MVP

The Phils just keep getting it done, though in a much uglier way than they were last year at this time, but done nonetheless. Right now, the Phillies Magic Number sits at 14. This means that if the Phillies go 10-10 in their last 20 games, the 2nd place Marlins would have to go 17-2 to overtake us. The Braves would have to go 18-1. Stranger things have happened. But not much stranger. As we already knew, the ball is in our court. Don't fall on our faces and we are looking at our 3rd straight … [Read more...]

Eagles Impressive in Win Over Panthers

Eagles Panthers Football

Well - I guess all that out of sync business didn't really pan out. Mmmmmm......crow..... The Eagles looked great in nearly every facet of the game, dismantling the Panthers in Carolina - and perhaps raising the expectations of their season before it really gets going. You all know we don't pretend to be football experts here, but are huge Birds fans - so here are my amateur observations of Game 1. The Good Stuff Our D-Line was dominant, and dominant against a team with a good … [Read more...]
