If you haven't seen already, the Sixers met with Allen Iverson today in Dallas for about two hours. This kind of bugs me because on two occasions yesterday Eddie Jordan was adamant that nothing regarding Iverson was serious or imminent. That he had no scheduled plans to meet with Iverson. That all the hype was purely media talk and something for the fans to talk about. Dude don't insult our intelligence okay. We aren't stupid. Your management already admitted to having internal … [Read more...]
Reports: Mouphtaou Yarou Out For Season
It looks as though Villanova's most heralded recruit in some time might not see the court again the rest of the season. Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports, among others, is reporting that Yarou will have to sit out the year due to some kind of viral infection. The infection is not life-threatening, but that is really all the information that we have on it right now. First and foremost, Yarou's health is the most important thing here, and we certainly hope he makes a full recovery. Everything I've … [Read more...]
Eagles Gut Out Win Over Redskins

I was at the game today, so I'll have to do any and all analysis from memory, so bear with me. I was surprised on the ride home to hear everyone on the radio talking about this was a "bad win" and seemed disappointed with how the team played as a whole. While this was true in some respects, it appears to me that people think this Eagles' team is better than it really is. Consider... We are playing with 2 NFL-caliber cornerbacks. CB's 3 through 5 are either out for the year (Hobbs), … [Read more...]
Sixers Still Gotta Play Ball Amidst All the Iverson Talk
Enough Iverson chatter for at least two days. It's already been beat to death considering nothing has happened. You have the Iverson lovers who welcome him back. The haters who want no part of him. The happy median who attempt to rationally pick a side. In all honesty I think ALL the arguments for either side are overblown. The people screaming how it will stunt development of current players and other risks are making a bigger deal of it than it really is. The people talking … [Read more...]
Iverson Soon to Be a Sixer – Again?

Numerous team sources confirmed on Friday that the 76ers' brass has already talked - and talks will only escalate this weekend - about bringing Iverson back to Philadelphia. Possibly as early as next week. "It's being seriously considered," one Sixers official said before his team lost to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. "We know the history. We know the ups and downs. But we're also aware of what (Iverson) can do and that he's needed here. We simply can't just ignore the upside he'd bring. … [Read more...]
Sixers vs. Hawks: Going for 5 in a Row
I will be front and center for this game tonight (Pete flaked :) so going with my brother). I am excited to be down there for the first time this season. Get to experience first hand the 29th ranked attendance (last if you go by occupancy %)! Sarcasm aside I'll be looking for a few things. Eddie Jordan's bench demeanor and interactions with players. Being at the game provides for a complete view of the game uninhibited by the camera angles. Player body language and energy both on … [Read more...]
Hot Three Point Shooting Not Enough to Beat Celtics
Sixers go from playing three horrible quarters and one good quarter in a losing effort to playing three good quarters and one bad quarter still in a losing effort. When will this team learn that it takes 4 quarters of good basketball to beat good teams? To be honest I think last night's game against the Celtics was an atypical, fluke-like performance we have become accustom to seeing from the Sixers. Case in point: 13-20 from three for the Sixers 38 points on 13-18 from the field from … [Read more...]
Update: Lou Out 8 Weeks
UPDATE - Lou will be out 8 weeks. He had surgery on this broken jaw. Bittersweet news. Lou has been our best offensive player this season. But it also opens up tons of time for Jrue to show us what he can do. In the end I think it's a positive. The team isn't going anywhere this season so Jrue's development should be priority. Come to find out that Lou Williams suffered a fractured jaw in the Wizards game. I don't remember the elbow, does anyone else? He was clearly unaware of … [Read more...]
It’s Holiday Time: Will it Make a Difference in the Win Column?
Sorry for the corny headline, couldn't resist. Kind of says it all doesn't it? Well not exactly. That forecast probably doesn't even account for the fact that Louis Williams is definitely out and Elton Brand, if he isn't out will probably be completely ineffective with a bum hammy against the size of Boston. Speaking of Brand, should they even let him play? If he suffers a more severe injury that would almost guarantee the Sixers spiral to the bottom of the NBA. Wait, isn't … [Read more...]
Stop Pouting, Iguodala
Check this quote out. "I think I’m one of the best all-around players out there. I don’t know what it was - I guess it was not making shots. I feel like I defend better than anybody out there. Whatever the reason may be, I can’t really harp on it. I just move on and don’t let this drag on." ~ Andre Iguodala I am not a fan of this dude as it is, and quotes like this don't make it any better. It just adds to many fans' perception that he thinks extremely highly of himself and is … [Read more...]
