Sixers / Lakers Game Thread

Not much commentary today as it's New Year's Eve and I am in Buffalo about to go to a wedding and Pete is out of town as well. Sixers have their toughest game on the stretch tonight against the Lakers. We will be without Iguodala again so that means Turner will have ample time and opportunity to build on his best game of the season. Even more, he will likely be the guy spending the most time defending Kobe. I am looking forward to seeing how that turns out. Happy New Year everyone. This … [Read more...]

Sixers / Suns Game Thread

Dannie is tied up right now, so you guys and gals will have to live with an abbreviated game thread for tonight's game against the Suns. Here is what I'm looking for tonight... Can Jrue continue his solid play? 20ppg, 6.3 apg, 56% shooting in last 3 games. Remember when we all got super pumped about Jodie Meeks? And then he went 7-40 (17.5%) from 3 in his last 9 games? Would be nice to see him turn it around a bit. We need a good shooter so badly on this team. No Iggy again tonight. … [Read more...]

Unprepared, Lifeless Eagles Lose
Shot at Bye

I'm pretty annoyed right now so I'm going to keep this short. Is it really that difficult to play on Tuesday instead of Sunday? Seriously. The team was unbelievably flat. I get that your normal schedule was messed up. Boo freakin' hoo. The team should be completely embarrassed. And Andy Reid deserves most of the blame. Michael Vick played like he did when he was a wildly overrated player in Atlanta. Lots of missed passes, preventable turnovers. With the Vikings depleted secondary, he … [Read more...]

Stats and Ranks Some Interesting Stats and Facts One of 5 players, and the only infielder, to win the regular season and World Series MVP in the same season (Sandy Koufax, Reggie Jackson, Frank Robinson and Willie Stargell). Led the NL by a wide-margin in several categories including HR (13 more than 2nd place), SLG% (107 points), OPS (102 points), RBI (12), Extra Base hits (16) 2nd most HR ever by a full-time 3B (A-Rod, 54 in 2007) 13th best OPS+ by a 3B in history 7th … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Warriors Game Thread

Sixers are 2 and 2 on the road trip. If you want to blindly look at that you can, it's fine. But the two wins were against two of the better teams on the stretch that were both undermanned. Sucks. It just makes evaluating this team that much more difficult. Everyone is talking up the defense, and rightly so. But do they hold Denver to less than 100 points per 100 possessions if Melo plays? Does Denver relinquish the lead with their go-to scorer on the floor? I doubt it, but you just don't … [Read more...]

Eagles Win NFC East Title Amid Game Delay

With the Giants loss, the Eagles won the NFC East for the first time since 2006 (has it been that long??) and the sixth time in the Andy Reid era. It also means this will be the 9th year (out of 12) that Andy Reid has led us to the playoffs. This guarantees the Eagles at least the #3 seed in the playoffs, as the 4th division winner will finish no better than .500. If the Eagles finish as the 3rd seed, we will play a home wild-card game against the 6th seed. That will be either the Packers, … [Read more...]

Phillies Bring Back J.C. Romero

Phillies 25man roster

After the Dennys Reyes signing fell through, the Phillies were still in need of a lefty to replace J.C. Romero in the bullpen. Turns out that lefty will be J.C. Romero. Multiple outlets are reporting Romero will be coming back to the Phillies for his 5th season with the club. I see two sides to this signing. On the one hand, Dennys Reyes, or any other low-end LHP on the market, would probably not be a big upgrade over Romero. Might as well go with the guy you know. On the other hand, … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Denver Game Thread

Ty Lawson

Well since the Eagles game has been postponed until Tuesday everyone is free to watch the Sixers! Get pumped. Luckily for the Sixers they get another break on this road trip. Carmelo Anthony isn't expected to play tonight due to the unfortunate death of his sister. His absence makes tonight a much more winnable game just like the first game on the trip against an Orlando team in flux playing with just 7 guys. Depending on your view this is a good thing or a bad thing. Obviously if … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Boston: Bounce Back Game
or More of the Same?

Sixers bench at the end of the Bulls Game

Wow, that was easily the worse game I've ever watch the Sixers lose last night. And the thing is, it wasn't even unbearable because it was so comically ridiculous. Depending on how you look at it having another game tonight is potentially great or terrible. I know when I was a player I wanted to get right back on the court after a tough or bad loss. You want to redeem yourself and wipe the memory of a dreadful performance from your mind by replacing it with a better one. So with that … [Read more...]

2011 MLB Power Rankings, For No Particular Reason

Check out ReclinerGM's 2011 MLB Preview here This is the time of year I start getting antsy. Most of the big moves in the MLB off-season are over with and now it's just a long wait until pitchers and catchers report. I usually cope with this by staring at depth charts for long periods of time and starting work on my predictions. I've done this a lot the last couple days and have come up with a preliminary power ranking. This is very much subject to change, with the biggest dominos yet … [Read more...]
