And the Most Productive Shooting Guard is…

samuel-dalembert-does-work

Yes sir!  It's our own Andre Iguodala.  No joke. So you are probably wondering - "what the hell am I smokin'?" Qualifier In the first half the season Andre Iguodala is the most productive shooting guard in the NBA based on the metric Wins Produced. Through the first 41 games Iguodala's contributions should have lead to 8 wins for the Sixers, tops among all shooting guards. What about small forwards? Iguodala ranks 4th among small forwards in wins produced behind LeBron … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Going After Amare Stoudemire?

sixers going after amare

It seems like Monday's are bringing new Sixers rumors every week now.  Here's this week's installment to kick off your day: After recent discussions with Amar’e Stoudemire’s agent that didn’t appear to destine a contract extension, the Phoenix Suns have increased their efforts to trade the All-Star forward, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday night. League executives say the Suns have become more active initiating talks over the past few days, and believe the franchise will … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Pacers Take 1

Sixers are right back at it tonight after their solid win over the Dallas Maverick.  They face the Pacers in the first game of a home-and-home. I was somewhat surprised last night when the starting line-ups were being announced while I as at the game.  Since I wasn't online I didn't know before hand Ed Stefanski, I mean Eddie Jordan had changed up the starting line-up. Jrue starting is the best thing for the team.  Elton starting is the best thing for the team.  Thad and Lou in reserve … [Read more...]

Sixers vs Dallas: The Second Half of the Season Begins

13 and 28.  That is the Sixers first half record.  Now the second season begins. Can they turn it around? I doubt it but I will be on hand at the Wach to see how they start the second half of the season. The next 10 games are HUGE for the Sixers future.  If they start really playing well Stefanski might decide to stand pat.  If they continue to suck the February 18th trade deadline will have significantly more hype surrounding it. As I said before, I don't want the Sixers to make … [Read more...]

Phillies sign Jose Contreras to 1-year deal

Phillies 25man roster

Ruben Amaro is passing out contracts like they're candy. ESPN.com is reporting that the Phillies have signed Jose Contreras to a 1-year deal. My guess is that Contreras will battle with Kyle Kendrick, Jamie Moyer and Drew Carpenter for the 5th spot in the rotation, lose out to Kendrick, and then assume a long relief role in the bullpen, much like Chan Ho did last year. But I imagine his role to be much more like Clay Condrey than Chan Ho Park. Contreras was very solid for the Rockies in … [Read more...]

ReclinerGM’s Pre-Spring Training,
I’m-Ready-For-Baseball Power Poll

baseball-in-snow

There has been a lot of talks in the comments fields about where the Phillies, and several other teams, stack up going into the season. I'm getting started on my preview, and since I have my initial Power Poll done, I figured I'd share it for some debate. Please note that this is subject to change moving forward, especially if you convince me I'm way off base in the comments. The Contenders 1. Boston Red Sox 2. New York Yankees 3. Philadelphia Phillies 4. St. Louis … [Read more...]

Victorino The Latest To Sign 3-Year Deal

Sometimes you get the sense Ruben Amaro needs to slow down a little. Only hours after signing Joe Blanton to a 3-year, $24 million deal, Amaro signed Shane Victorino to a 3-year, $22 million deal that will take him through his final 2 arbitration years and his first year of free agency. He will now be a free agent after the 2012 season, at age 32. There are only a couple of things to note with this signing. Victorino asked for $5.8 million in arbitration, so I can't imagine his first … [Read more...]

Stefanski Sending Eddie Jordan Another Public Message: Start Elton Brand!

A few weeks ago Ed Stefanski crawled out from under a rock and made a public statement.  It had two very clear points: Eddie Jordan's job is not guaranteed ( no one's is, not even his own) The defense must get better and become more of a focus Now we have no clue if these messages were sent directly to Eddie Jordan in addition to this public statement but the message was clear none the less.  Things need to get better defensively first and foremost and Eddie Jordan's job wasn't safe … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Trade Likely to Happen By the Deadline?

Since breaking down the play of the Sixers is frankly a waste of all our time, my focus will be on non-game-specific talk.  Namely: trade rumors, the draft and big picture discussion. This morning I ran across this blurb from Mark Stein on TrueHoop: The Sixers are only growing more determined to make a deal before the deadline. I’ve heard that in strong terms from three different sources this week already. Which tells me we should expect to keep hearing more trade scenarios that … [Read more...]
