Sixers vs. Bulls: All About Jrue vs. Rose for Me

I'm sorry I just can't get excited about this team or thinking about them winning down the stretch (might write a counterpoint on this later though). What I can get excited about is watching Rose and Jrue go at it for 40 minutes.  At this point I am just watching and hope this kid learns to shoot, stop turning the ball over and become a strong two-way player.  He's far enough on his way defensively that all his focus should be on rounding out his game. Chicago made a couple trades … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Spurs: Is Anyone Still Out There?

The team is still the same, save for a very insignificant player shuffle. That lack of player movement and coach dismissal at the last major point in the season have understandable left many (most?  all?) Sixers fans at an all-time low with the team. The building was already bare, now with no change in sight or reason to hope could it get worse? I'm not really made we didn't make a move.  I think there will be MORE opportunities this summer once all those teams try and fail to land … [Read more...]

Phillies Top 20 Prospects for 2010:
#2 Phillippe Aumont, RHP

aumont stats

Basic Info Age: 21 Height/Weight: 6'7'', 220 lbs Hometown: Hull, Quebec How Acquired: Cliff Lee trade Stats Despite already pitching in AA and being talked about as a call-up for the Mariners if he hadn't been traded, Aumont just turned 21, and only has 106.2 professional innings under his belt. Like with many young pitchers, those innings have been hit or miss. He struggled ERA-wise in AA (10 ER in 17.2 IP), but his K/9 ratio (24 K's in 17.2 IP) showed that he certainly has the … [Read more...]

Hamels Shows Up Ready To Go

The Phillies most important player this season, Cole Hamels, showed up to spring training ready to go, after throwing more in the off-season than he ever has before. Who knows whether it will translate to regular season success, but here is what Rich Dubee had to say... "You watch him long toss right now, he's far beyond where he's ever been in spring training, and he deserves a lot of credit for that. Because he was faced with a challenge. You need to start throwing. You need to get yourself … [Read more...]

Sixers Continue Their Insignificance

Sixers completed the greatest afterthought (if any thought) trade of this year's trade deadline. The Details: Sixers get: Jodie Meeks and Fransico Elson Bucks get: Royal Ivey, Primo Brezec and a 2nd round pick (which year no disclosed) I like Jodie Meeks.  He was an offensive beast at Kentucky his last season and proved to be quite unstoppable on the perimeter in college.   He is a bit undersized for an NBA shooting guard at 6-4 but his frame isn't slight. If he commits to the … [Read more...]

ReclinerGM’s 2010 MLB Preview: AL West

scott-kazmir

Click  for ReclinerGM's MLB Preview home page Along with the NL West, this was the toughest division for me to pick. On paper, Seattle had one of, if not the best off-seasons. Anaheim had one of the worst. Therefore, nearly everyone is picking Seattle to overtake Anaheim without much of a 2nd thought - but I don't see it that way. Los Angeles won 97 games last year. Yes, they lost John Lackey and Chone Figgins, but they picked up Joel Pinero, Hideki Matsui and Fernando Rodney and get a … [Read more...]

Sixers 2010 Trade Deadline Rumors

sixers-payroll

The Sixers conveniently don't have another game until after the trade deadline which is Thursday at 3pm.  So what else is there to talk about? The Situation 20-33 record. A clueless head coach. An equally as clueless general manager. The roster and financial situation: The Sixers are about $6.3M over the salary cap Sixers Trade Rumors There have been a number of rumors connected with the Sixers.  Here is a quick list of them. Houston - The first trade rumor had the … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Heat: The Season Continues

Right now most of the attention for the Sixers is about who to trade and who to trade for.  I think its pretty clear the actual play of the team is an afterthought at this point.  But they still have to play the games, so we continue forward. Iverson is back and from the looks of it he will be coming off the bench. Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said after Monday's practice that his "mindset now is not to start" Allen Iverson. "That's the last thing I'm thinking about," Iverson said. "We've … [Read more...]

Nova Looks Sloppy In Loss To UConn

Only a day after being handed the Big East lead following a Syracuse upset, Villanova gave it right back in a very sloppy, poorly played contest against UConn that looked frighteningly like their loss to Georgetown last week. When this Nova team is playing bad, they are tough to watch. They try to play too fast and often look like they are on ice-skates, losing the ball, throwing it away and forcing shots. This particularly iteration had a couple stand-outs: Taylor King - I don't … [Read more...]

Disturbing… At Least to Me

The trade deadline is Thursday, and as expected trade talks are heating up. The Mavs and Wizards completed a 7-player deal that on the surface looks like it makes Dallas more of a threat to the Lakers. Cleveland has ramped up their intensity to land Amare.  The purpose seems to be two-fold. Bolster their roster to win a championship this season. Show LeBron they are committed to winning no matter the cost by signing Amare to an extension so James doesn't bolt this summer. The … [Read more...]
