ReclinerGM’s 2010 MLB Preview:
Phillies Outfield

werth1

Other ReclinerGM 2010 MLB previews The infield gets all the accolades, but it was the outfield that stepped up their game and exceeded expectations last year. Both Shane Victorino and Jayson Werth had career years that led to both being invited to the all-star game. Raul Ibanez was arguably the best hitter in baseball until he got hurt, but was never quite the same when he came back. This is an area where the Phillies have loads of prospects in the pipeline so it will be interesting to see … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Magic: Jrue vs. Jameer

Plain and and simple, if the Sixers win this game I will likely break something. They are chugging along, losing games and making sure Jrue gets minutes and touches.  That's what the remaining 12 games of the season is all about. Couple notes... Thad and Lou are out. Andre Iguodala is playing with plantar fasciitis.  For three weeks?  First it was in his right foot now his left foot is starting to bother him?  Another reason this franchise is going to hell.  Way to mishandle … [Read more...]

Villanova Runs Out of Luck

The refs didn't bail them out.  Their opponent didn't bail them out.  And the Wildcats played another piss poor game in this NCAA tournament.  The difference: they lost this one.  Sadly it shouldn't take luck for Nova to beat the teams they faced in the first two rounds. I honestly don't even know where to start. Everyone saw this coming.  They sucked down the stretch of the regular season.  They sucked in the first game of the tournament, with two starters having to be disciplined … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Knicks in a No One Cares Game

I am not wasting my time or your time doing any sort of analysis of this game.  The Sixers need to lose, it's that simple.  I won't be watching, just checking in periodically.  March Madness takes precedence at this time of year. This is your pointless game thread. … [Read more...]

Temple Falls To Red Hot Cornell

I know everyone has been talking about how great this tournament is, but for me, it's totally sucked. That continued as Temple was knocked out by a team that had no business being a 12-seed, when they had no business being a 5-seed to begin with. Essentially Temple's reward for a 3-seed caliber season was being treated like a 8-seed. On to the game. Cornell winning shouldn't be a surprise. Their only losses on the year came to Kansas (who they almost beat), Syracuse, Seton Hall and a fluke … [Read more...]

2010 NL East Preview: Atlanta Braves

2010 Braves

Click for ReclinerGM's MLB Preview home page After winning the division for 11 straight years, the Braves have now spent 4 straight years finishing no higher than 3rd. That figures to change this year, as they enter the year with a re-vamped line-up and a sense of purpose in Bobby Cox's last year as manager. Line-Up: A crutch for the Braves last year - this should be a greatly improved area with a (presumably) healthy Chipper Jones, a full year of Nate McClouth, the additions of … [Read more...]

Nova Gets Undeserved Win Over Robert Morris

This isn't going to be long, because that game (and watching my alma mater Notre Dame lose) took a lot out of me. Let's get one thing straight: Robert Morris deserved to win that game, and Nova deserved to lose. They wanted it more, they were more prepared, they played with passion. Meanwhile, Nova had 2 starters benched for not bothering with the scouting report and then had those 2 starters go out there and put up a 4-19 from the field. They played like they were on ice skates and their … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Nets: How Can We Lose This One?

That is the question for the night. How can the Sixers lose this game? We have one thing going for us.  Thad is out with a fractured thumb.  Speights is still out, although I think it can be argued that him playing actually helps the Sixes lose considering he was posted up by 6-5 Trenton Hassell and laid up twice.  And Lou is a game-time-decision. What we don't have going for us is the fact that the Nets also have injuries.  Devin Harris and Yi are both out. So how can the Sixers … [Read more...]

Analyzing the Eagles’ QB Situation

This is the first reader-generated guest post on the Philadelphia Eagles on ReclinerGM. If you want to submit a post about the Eagles, check out this post for instructions or email us at reclinergm@gmail.com with any questions. Although the Eagles haven’t really made a huge splash in the news lately, plenty of things have gone on this offseason in the wake of two blowout losses to the Dallas Cowboys to end the year. I would call these things "subtle tweaks" in trying to close the gap … [Read more...]

2010 NL East Preview: Florida Marlins

Marlins 2010

Click for ReclinerGM's MLB Preview home page Every year I pick the Marlins to finish 4th or 5th in the division, and (almost) every year, they surprise and finish 2nd or 3rd. They are pesky, and really quite annoying, as a small market team that always seems to find a way to win despite unloading players year after year. This off-season however, they didn't unload that much. Despite rumors surrounding Dan Uggla, Jorge Cantu, Josh Johnson and even Hanley Ramirez, the Marlins only ended up … [Read more...]
