With their win over Atlanta Friday night the 76ers officially locked up a playoff spot for the first time since 2005. I don’t think anyone in Philly, outside the city and around the country thought this was a realistic possibility. Especially when you consider on February 4th the Sixers were 12 games below .500 at 18-30. The growth and improvement this team has shown is remarkable. And tremendous credit must got to Ed Stefanski for coming in telling Mo to play the young guys. As well as Maurice Cheeks for not pushing back on that request and making the most of every players ability.
The 76ers essentially picked up where the Portland Trailblazers unbelievable first half run left off. No one expected Portland to have the start they had with Oden going down before the season. Luckily for the Sixers their best basketball came at the time that matters the most. Now 21-8 since that low point back in February. Next step hitting the 40-win mark
So what I really want to get a feeling for is how the Philly fans honestly think our team will fair in the post season. Right now in the 6th spot and a full game up on Toronto that has us playing Orlando in the first round. How do you like that match up?
What if the Sixers finish the season as the 5th seed, which is a real possibility being only 1-game behind Washington. The Wizards have a tough final 5 games against Boston, Detroit, Philly, Indiana and Orlando. That would have us playing the LeBron Jameses. What do you do think of that potential series?
I don’t think I need to repeat what I think about this again, but I am curious to see what Sixer fans are thinking. Optimistic they can get out of the first round or not shot?

Congrats. What a strange year. The Sixers (one game above .500) and Toronto (one game below .500) both clinched a spot before San Antonio (19 games over .500).
Congrats! on the new domain. Although it can frequently take mapping up to 72 hours to provogate throughout, the domain mapping on your site has kicked in and is working fine for me.
Happy blogging
P.S. I’m from Canada.
Yeah I have to agree with Gargs above, this has truly been an exciting season in the NBA. As someone who grew up with Michael, Magic, Larry, and Pre-Brain Damage and Sexual Harrassment Lawsuit Isiah, it’s comforting to see an all time high talent level that’s being coupled with a renewed emphasis on fundamental skills of basketball being brought over from Europe. I haven’t really followed the pro game as much in recent years as the quality of play has declined due to a number of factors but this could stand as a watershed season in the revival of a better pro game.
Anyway, it’s certainly a change a pace when players are getting more attention for what they’re doing on the court than what they’re doing off the court (or in the stands, in Ron Artest’s case)
Mike – I completely agree. This is been by far the most competitive season I can remember. And besides the injuries, there hasn’t really been a downer at all this season, especially off the court.
It’s amazing how the NBA was able to completey move past the Tim Donaghy gambling scandal without much carry over too.
by the way, the new design is very sexy.
i think the sixers can match both orlando and cleveland. but dalembert needs to play clean defense to avoid fouls while covering dwight howard, but other than that, i think it’s gonna be a good match-up against cavs or magic..
