Another Reason Why I Hate the Sixers Right Now

by Dannie on March 10, 2010

So it was reported that the Sixers brass had already decided to fire Eddie Jordan.

Now, Peter Luukko (aka Sixers brass) came out and said “that Sixers management hasn’t already decided to fire coach Eddie Jordan.”

WTF!

Do these fools have any clue who their fans are, what their fans have been saying about the team and what those fans want?

Look, I understand management may not want to openly come out and say Jordan will be fired at the end of the year (wouldn’t mind it personally).  But, there is absolutely no reason to refute floating rumors that are out there when those rumors are exactly what the team’s fans have by dying to have happen.

It’s just stupid.

And even if it’s just lip service to superficially ease the mind of Eddie Jordan for 19 more games it sends the wrong message to the fan base whose smart enough to know:

  • Eddie Jordan should have been fired a long time ago
  • Firing Eddie Jordan is the first step (not only step) to righting the ship
  • Even if you haven’t decided we all know Jordan will be fired because realistically there is no way in hell he can be successful with this team (any team?) at this point

So why come out and refute the rumor?  Doing so only serves two purposes:

  1. Piss off your fans
  2. Force the fans to further question management’s ability to turn this team into a winner.  Because if you are legitimately considering bring Eddie Jordan back that would be revenue and basketball suicide.

Sixers, get your f’ing act together!

Light at the end of the 82 game tunnel:  Elton is already and fiercely
eager to practice and improve his passing skills this upcoming summer to better fit in to the ‘Princeton’ offense!  Beyond statements to Cooney/press, was seen at a South Philadelphia  Sports Authority this morning vigorously shaking his piggybank clean and placing a Passback flexible angles frame & net on layaway.  While others are reclining at the beach, he’ll be laboring in his driveway under a hot sun, refining an assortment of deliveries to hypothetical others - – at 30, this personal commitment and advance planning of his is truly a remarkable development and statement of character.  Successful admixtures take time; the chemistry of the 76ers is beginning to bubble.  Are you ready, Philly?

According to Ric Bucher, the team will evaluate Jordan, as well as Stefanksi, at the end of the season!
