Sixers Trade Samuel Dalembert

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to swap Samuel Dalembert to the Sacramento Kings for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes, two league sources told ESPN.com. The deal was agreed to on Tuesday night and the two teams have been working out details Thursday morning. Barring some last-minute hitch the trade should be completed as early as Thursday afternoon, according to the sources. ~ ESPN Just caught wind of this.  Need to look into some stuff and think about whether I like this move or not (I … [Read more...]

And the Most Productive Shooting Guard is…

samuel-dalembert-does-work

Yes sir!  It's our own Andre Iguodala.  No joke. So you are probably wondering - "what the hell am I smokin'?" Qualifier In the first half the season Andre Iguodala is the most productive shooting guard in the NBA based on the metric Wins Produced. Through the first 41 games Iguodala's contributions should have lead to 8 wins for the Sixers, tops among all shooting guards. What about small forwards? Iguodala ranks 4th among small forwards in wins produced behind LeBron … [Read more...]

Sammy Talking Reckless – And He’s Right!

So Sammy is talking - already! I just had a quick conversation with Pete about this.  I'll just come right out and say it, Pete and anyone else that jumps on Sammy because of these comments are dead wrong - period. Like I told Pete, Sam is right. You can't openly call him the "X-factor" and then not play him.  That makes no sense at all and if I was in his shoes I would feel the same way.  Did you listen to what he said? Or did you just see he was talking about minutes and your … [Read more...]

Trading Samuel Dalembert: The Impossible Task Part 1

Trading Samuel Dalembert

I just want to drive right into the off-season with this because it's a quick hitter. Trade Samuel Dalembert. Everyone wants it, so let's play a game this off-season and propose some deals to make it happen.  And I am not talking about silliness that has no real possibility of happening.  We can't give him away for just a pick, it's just not financially possible for most teams and that type of deal is typically reserved for moves involving a highly coveted player under contract going to a team … [Read more...]

Samuel Dalembert Dropped from Canadian National Team

Here is a bit of Sixers-related news... Samuel Dalembert has apparently been booted from the Canadian National Team. Philadelphia 76ers center Samuel Dalembert was released from the team after Tuesday's defeat to Slovenia. "Without going into too much detail, it's a situation that we decided to move forward with the players who have the passion and desire to play for Canada," Head coach Leo Rautins said. "It's disappointing for sure, but I think you have to have players who are a 100% … [Read more...]

Evaluating the ’07-’08 76ers: Samuel Dalembert

Look at the young Sameul Dalembert

Samuel Dalembert 2007 Season Review Stats: 33.2 MPG / 10.5 PPG / 51.3% FG / 70.7% FT / 10.4 RPG / 0.5 APG / 0.49 SPG / 2.34 BPG / 1.9 TOV I was happy (not satisfied) with Sammy's production at center this season. He played all 82 games for the second straight season while logging the most minutes per game of his career. Can you say durable? He also fouled out less (3) and had 26 double doubles, both career bests. Defensively Dalembert did a good job of controlling the paint and even had … [Read more...]

Samuel Dalembert: A Man Possessed vs. New Jersey

When people talk about Samuel Dalembert the conversation often goes something like this: Did you see Dalembert last night? Yeah, he looked clueless out there on the court. I know, and he needs to shut his mouth about playing time, too. I don't know what the hell Billy King was thinking when he signed him to that long-term contract. The Sixers should try and trade him. I know I have personally been in a few conversations just like that about Sammy. Well tonight I thought I'd switch it up … [Read more...]

Sixers Handle Spurs – ‘Tough Stretch’ Becomes Win Streak

I am writing this post after getting home from another superb performance and win by our 76ers over the San Antonio Spurs. That means my head has not exploded - yet. In my opinion this was the perfect basketball game to attend when you are a die-hard fan of the home team has 3 main characteristics. Some exciting plays and moments. That can be dunks, crossovers or draining a few big three point shots. A comfortable lead that is not too large that you lose interest because the game is … [Read more...]

Sixers Show Heart – and Promise

While most of the city argues about the Eagles offseason moves or prepares for pitchers and catchers to report to Phillies spring training, the Sixers next big event seems to be the NBA Draft. Just don't tell that to the players. In the midst of a 7-game losing streak, down 16 in the 3rd quarter to the Houston Rockets and in the second of back-to-back road games, the Sixers had every reason to mail it in, get on the plane and get ready for Boston on Friday. Instead, led by their young players, … [Read more...]

They’re Stealing Money! The Most Overpaid NBA Players

My '07-'08 installment of the most-overpaid NBA players has a mix of big-time players (well, they used to be) and some lesser-known scrubs collecting checks they don't deserve. I love America! Note: The salary data presented here is not guaranteed to have perfect figures (mainly because many of these washed-up players have been bought out of their original contracts for a lesser amount) - but it's close enough. These are simply my opinions using information obtained from a host of online … [Read more...]
