Carmelo Anthony Sixers Trade Talk
(Is it Pointless?)

Carmelo Anthony Sixers Rumors

Last week Ken Berger of CBS Sports did some speculating based on those anonymous "sources" journalists seem to always have, that the Sixers could get involved in a three way trade with the Nets and Nuggets. The big bang of the hypothetical deal would result in: The Sixers getting: Derrick Favors The Nets getting: Carmelo Anthony The Nuggets getting: Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young The money line from that piece: Two people familiar with Denver’s strategy confirmed the Nuggets … [Read more...]

Sixers 2010 Trade Deadline Rumors

sixers-payroll

The Sixers conveniently don't have another game until after the trade deadline which is Thursday at 3pm.  So what else is there to talk about? The Situation 20-33 record. A clueless head coach. An equally as clueless general manager. The roster and financial situation: The Sixers are about $6.3M over the salary cap Sixers Trade Rumors There have been a number of rumors connected with the Sixers.  Here is a quick list of them. Houston - The first trade rumor had the … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Byron Scott Anyone?

Apparently a little birdie has something to say about the future of the Sixers head coaching position: Little birdie currently employed by a NBA team just whispered in my ear that he expects Byron Scott to eventually be head coach of 76ers. ~ Travis Heath of HoopsWorld viaTwitter I obviously can not at all speak to the credibility of this rumor but it is a Sixers rumor none the less. Combine this rumor with the one about ownership wanting to clear out Stefanski and his crony and we might be … [Read more...]

Sixers vs. Nets: Who Cares…Stefanski and Jordan on the Hot Seat Rumor

The Sixers actually will be playing the New Jersey Nets while they are healthy.  The Sixers were lucky to have faced the Nets twice in the early going with a very limited team missing impact players.  That might not be the case today. Everyone is expected play with Devin Harris being the only possible hold out.  He has a wrist injury and has missed the last few games.  He could return tonight against the Sixers though and is a game-time-decision. The Sixers are reeling having lost 3 … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Going After Amare Stoudemire?

sixers going after amare

It seems like Monday's are bringing new Sixers rumors every week now.  Here's this week's installment to kick off your day: After recent discussions with Amar’e Stoudemire’s agent that didn’t appear to destine a contract extension, the Phoenix Suns have increased their efforts to trade the All-Star forward, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday night. League executives say the Suns have become more active initiating talks over the past few days, and believe the franchise will … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Trade Likely to Happen By the Deadline?

Since breaking down the play of the Sixers is frankly a waste of all our time, my focus will be on non-game-specific talk.  Namely: trade rumors, the draft and big picture discussion. This morning I ran across this blurb from Mark Stein on TrueHoop: The Sixers are only growing more determined to make a deal before the deadline. I’ve heard that in strong terms from three different sources this week already. Which tells me we should expect to keep hearing more trade scenarios that … [Read more...]

Would the Sixers Really Trade Iguodala+ for T-Mac? Would You?

We don't know the answer to this.  But rumors are circulating that the idea hasn't at least been denied vehemently. The beginning: Believe it or not, sources say Philadelphia has not completely ruled out a McGrady-for-Andre Iguodala deal, if only because if the losing continues, Sixers ownership may order a fire sale. Talks between the two teams have taken place but they have not reached the serious stage. Philadelphia hinted at a package of Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert for McGrady. But … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Brand No Longer Needed?

Found these tidbits this morning figured I toss it out there... Sixers GM Ed Stefanski is desperate to unload forward Elton Brand(notes) and the $66 million owed over the remaining four years of his crippling contract, sources say, but that will be incredibly difficult. Even with several teams, including Golden State and Charlotte, desperate for low-post scorers and rebounders, no one believes Brand, who makes $14.8 million this season, has enough left to merit taking on that contract. ~ Yahoo … [Read more...]

Sixers Rumors: Finally Dumping Sammy, Gain Cap Space?

Hat tip to regular reader Ed. R. for pointing this out to me while I was in a 2-hour meeting. Three team trade between the Sixers, Celtics and Kings: Sources told ESPN.com that the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings, in considering the feasibility of a Samuel Dalembert-for-Kenny Thomas swap, have discussed expanding that concept with Boston by trying to draw in the Celtics on a potential three-way deal that would land Andres Nocioni with the Celts. Sources further stressed over the … [Read more...]

2009 NBA Free Agency Begins…

Guys (and any ladies) free agency started at 12:01 and I think by the end of July we will get to see a few things: What will happen with Andre Miller? How the Sixers final roster (main rotational players at least) will shape up. How the entire NBA will look and where the balance of power will lie.  This is important to note for us to see how the competition will have grown or decreased in our division and conference.  How good you are is always relative to the competition. I will … [Read more...]
