Well, so far this year is shaping up like last year, with the Eagles being linked to every possible elite WR and thus far with absolutely nothing to show for it. The most recent rumor, arising from the owners meetings, is that the Eagles are interested in trading for the Browns WR Braylon Edwards, and the Browns, having already traded Kellen Winslow and likely lost Dante Stallworth to prison or suspension, are looking to give QB Brady Quinn no shot at having a decent first season by trading away every single offensive player on the team.
The specific rumor is Edwards for Reggie Brown and some “lesser picks.” So I guess not a 1st rounder. If we can get Edwards without giving up a 1st rounder, you do it, despite his new found love of dropping passes. In a vacuum, I still take Boldin though, but he will cost more. However, until anything actually happens, I’m not getting any hopes up.
Another draft note is that Tom Heckert talked about moving up in the draft, saying that the Eagles “could do anything” with the picks they have. I wouldn’t be surprised if they packaged their picks up into the top-10 to get one of the 3 big tackles (Monroe, J. Smith, A. Smith).

Although we would continue to lead the league in drops, this is a trade you have to make. The Browns wanted a 2nd, 5th, and Steve Smith from the Giants. If we give up a 2nd, 4th, and Reggie Brown it should be a deal.

Agree that a 2nd, 4th and Reggie Brown would be a great deal for the Eagles. If they do that, and trade up to get a tackle and use their 3rd rounder on a RB (Javon Ringer?) it would be a slam dunk of a draft.
My concern with Edwards would be his mental toughness. How will he react the first time he drops a big pass and gets killed by the fans/media?
He has dealt with some tough fans in Cleveland. The dog pound can be harsh especially when they keep seeing the same bad team show up. The Philly Media might be something new for him. That being said I would make that move in a second. I am still hoping they make the Bolden move instead.
Pete, that move and getting Pettigrew and one of the running backs in the first would be my dream come true. Question; Is there a tackle worth moving up in the 2nd round to get? I would prefer using our first rounders on skill guys and using what we have on the line along with a young guy in the 2nd or third. To me if we upgrade our skill guys Donovan can get rid of the ball quicker to guys that can get open quicker, ass backwards thinking I guess but !!!

I’m not being sucked in…Eagles are not getting Edwards. I’d be ecstatic if they did but it is not happening. We’re not going boldin either. We will be forever stuck with second rate receivers as long as Reid is here. However, I think we have the best receiver core we have ever had (beside the TO year).
Drew-
Pete do you really think Ringer will be on the board in round 3?… he is supposedly climbing draft charts fast… i dont think i see him going past late 2nd round

I would like to trade up in the 2nd round and grab William Beatty, OT out of UConn after taking Donald Brown at #28
