Well, this makes entirely too much sense, so I imagine we’ll be hearing about it until it is resolved. It looks like the Colts will likely cut Marvin Harrison and his huge salary, making him a free agent. If this happens, the smart money would be on him landing with the Eagles, and here’s why…
- The Eagles need a WR (duh)
- The Eagles have a history of not spending big money or high draft picks on WR, Harrison will require neither
- Harrison is from the Philadelphia area
- Harrison played with McNabb at Syracuse and the two are good friends
- The Eagles have a history of signing good players on their last legs (Blaine Bishop, Levon Kirkland, Antonio Freeman, Dorsey Levens, etc…)
While this would certainly be a positive development, let’s keep in mind that Harrison is 36 and has 883 yards and 6 TD over the last two seasons combined. He would probably be the 3rd receiver on this team behind DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis, and wouldn’t be the big time playmaker the offense so desperately needs. I imagine the hype of his hall of fame career would balloon expectations to unrealistic proportions. That being said, I would certainly welcome this move and a WR core of Jackson, Curtis, Harrison and Jason Avant is nothing to sneeze at.

Marvin still has the hands. If he’s healthy he’d be a welcome addition. So we’d essentially be replacing Greg Lewis with Marvin Harrison? Done.
I just don’t see it happening. He won’t take a pay cut now…then what’s he gonna ask for from us? Not to mention the gun charges. I would be ok with it if we got him for less than 5 mil.
What do you think it would take to sign him?
He may be the big first name to become available that could help the Birds, but I have a feeling he won’t be the last…will this produce a Jerry Rice to Oakland impact?
You forget that Greg Lewis played special teams. Can’t wait to see Marvin running down the field busting the wedge.
Forget it!! He’s 36, injury proned and is not out of the woods regarding legal issues.
Local guy, but totally not worth the money he will be asking.
I’m unsure about the possibility but mostly I think, why not. However, when a receiver can’t be productive with the Good Manning how is he supposed to improve with McNabb?
sure why not? he has to be better than our #4 or #5 reciever but I wouldn’t give him much money. League min., or see ya
what about Donovan saying he won’t sign with the Eagles unless they get him a big time weapon. I think it’s a genius move by Donovan.

Why?
Shows he has some balls to demand what the fans have been asking for …. a big time WR
Shows some confidence, he’s demanding some action by the Eagles
alternatively…. if the Eagles have been planning to get rid of him….
He can NOW say “hey they traded me because I demanded it” (even if that isnt’ the case)
Smart move by #5
i’d love to see him stay in indy. as to his productivity, it’s hard when you are double and triple covered every time you step on the field. just look at the other indy players stats with him in. he sucks in the defense but there needs to be another wr or te weapon ready.
