Game 3 Chat: Lee, Phils Look to Rebound

by Pete on October 18, 2009

After a tough Game 2, the Phillies return home with their Ace on the mound, looking to regain the lead.

With rain in the forecast, we will have to see if the game is even played. If it is, I’ll be here chatting in the comments field.

According to weather.com 10% precip until 11pm so it looks like they’ll probably start the game.  At least that’s what I’m hoping cuz I’ll be down there.  I’m sitting in section 110 in right so I don’t have any overhang to protect me.  I’ll check in on here after the game.  Come on Cliff Lee! Show us why we got you!

2 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:01 pm

well – between the Phils giving away Game 2 on Friday, ND losing to USC in heartbreaking fashion (again) Saturday and the Eagles not showing up today, and having every one get hurt – I’m pretty scared to even watch this game tonight.

3 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:15 pm

great start for Lee – looks sharp

4 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 7:20 pm

look out, victorino’s on base in the first inning!

5 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:22 pm

kuroda’s got a splitter? we suck at hitting those…

6 jurnee16 10.18.09 at 7:26 pm

Was it the right decision to hold Victorino?

7 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 7:29 pm

THE. BIG. PIECE!!!!

8 jurnee16 10.18.09 at 7:29 pm

Howard again…he’s on fire!

9 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:29 pm

RYAN HOWARD – YOU ARE THE MAN!

Just set the record for most consecutive games with an RBI in a single postseason.

10 Dannie 10.18.09 at 7:29 pm

Great start.

11 Dannie 10.18.09 at 7:31 pm

YEAHHHHH. JUMP ALL OVER THEM!

12 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 7:31 pm

Big 1st inning!!
Victorino, Utley, Howard and Werth!!!

13 jurnee16 10.18.09 at 7:31 pm

Right down the middle…lets chase Kuroda in the first!

14 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 7:32 pm

This is huge.  They’ve got Billingsley up in the bullpen already.

15 Adam 10.18.09 at 7:36 pm

how can jimmy not get any hits off this bum. how can somone hit that good in the WBC and not carry over anything to the regular season?

16 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:36 pm

Werth really has tremendous power to center and right for a right handed hitter.

17 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:39 pm

first AB for Manny in Philly since the steroid stuff came out. Gotta get a good “YOU DID STER-OIDS!” chant going.

18 Dannie 10.18.09 at 7:42 pm

okay Manny’s on need a shut down inning here.  Must maintain the momentum.

19 jurnee16 10.18.09 at 7:45 pm

Howard made the throw!

20 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:48 pm

Jimmy looks EXACTLY the same now as he did when he was 8

21 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 7:49 pm

CHOOCH!!!

22 Dannie 10.18.09 at 7:50 pm

Jeez Chooch!  Winner right there.

23 jurnee16 10.18.09 at 7:50 pm

Pete,
Why do you think Chooch is still hitting behind Feliz?  Feliz has been terrible all postseason and Chooch has been tearing it up.

24 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 7:54 pm

This is awesome!  Just awesome.

25 Pete 10.18.09 at 7:59 pm

jurnee -

to turn the line-up over I guess

26 Dannie 10.18.09 at 8:01 pm

Not at all surprised this dude is wild right now.  The few pitches they showed us of him in the bullpen were also really wild.

27 Dannie 10.18.09 at 8:05 pm

Damn it Ryan dude is wild why the hell would he swing at the first pitch.

Too anxious to blow this thing open.

28 Adam 10.18.09 at 8:06 pm

oh well, i thought he was going to throw a meatball the first pitch and im guessing howard assumed the same.  I like him comin out swinging aggressively in that spot, he coulda put the game out of reach.

29 Pete 10.18.09 at 8:21 pm

Can’t believe Billingsley fell so hard this year…

2.83 ERA after 15 starts – and then couldn’t even make the postseason rotation.

30 Pete 10.18.09 at 9:03 pm

welcome to the playoffs Pedro Feliz!

31 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 9:03 pm

look at Feliz getting a good swing.  Nice triple!

32 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 9:04 pm

Chooch was all over that hanger!!

33 Adam 10.18.09 at 9:05 pm

chooch chooch train

34 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 9:13 pm

Really?  Chooch Chooch Train?

35 Adam 10.18.09 at 9:24 pm

hahaha yea someone said it at my house and it made me laugh

36 Dannie 10.18.09 at 9:36 pm

Pure mastery from C.L. Smooth tonight.  Beautiful to watch.

37 pg 10.18.09 at 9:47 pm

I like the C.L. Smooth allusion.  Must be reminiscing over you.

38 Dannie 10.18.09 at 9:59 pm

PG - I am glad someone got that.

39 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 10:00 pm

Cliff is pitching like the NLCS MVP…

40 jkay 10.18.09 at 10:05 pm

Chris McC: between him and Mr. October. if he gets another start, could go either way.

41 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 10:09 pm

Damn, the Phillies have just outscored the Eagles.

42 jkay 10.18.09 at 10:09 pm

hope this sends a clear message to the Dodgers; “This is Philly ball!”

43 Dannie 10.18.09 at 10:09 pm

Let’s hope they didn’t blow their wad here tonite.  Need to give Joe some run support tomorrow.

44 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 10:20 pm

There are roughly the same number of empty seats at CBP right now then there were in the middle of a close game at Dodger stadium over the weekend.

45 Chris McC 10.18.09 at 10:22 pm

What a grab!!!  Chooch is the man!

46 Adam 10.18.09 at 10:24 pm

great win, just great

47 jkay 10.18.09 at 10:31 pm

well tomorrow should be interesting. wonder how hard we can hit Wolf after this performance.
I am confident Philly crowd wont let them fall asleep.
well then…good job.

48 The Real Rob 10.18.09 at 11:03 pm

“Damn, the Phillies have just outscored the Eagles” sums it up greatly!!  GO PHILS!!  Take this series by the throat and let Pedro pitch Game 5!

49 The Real Rob 10.18.09 at 11:33 pm

Never mind, I saw from Philly.com that Hamels will pitch Game 5.

50 bball 10.18.09 at 11:47 pm

Just got back from the game a few minutes ago.  WOW that place was electric.  It seemed like LA was really bothered by the fans.  Manny looked straight up rattled when we were chanting the steroid stuff.  He was calling for time to take a ton of practice swings and stuff hoping it would die down.  I think the Dodgers will start to wonder if it’s gonna be like last year all over again.  If we win tomorrow we have to be in their head.

51 Chris McC 10.19.09 at 1:27 am

Will be going to the game tomorrow and plan on doing my part to shake the foundation – of both the ballpark and the Dodgers’ psyche.
Strange coincidence: This will be my 5th game of the year, and the 4th of which started by my man Sloppy Joe Blanton.  All have been wins.  Feeling good.  Here’s to not getting back on a plane to LA (at least for this series)!!
