OK – this is going to turn into a messy Game 4 recap, as I think that the comments’ field sums up the emotions of the game just fine, and I had a couple angry sentences and graphics already up when we had 2 outs in the 9th. And I will keep them up, because I think we were all angry at the time.
This team is truly amazing. The game is never, ever, ever over with them. This is the type of magic we saw in the playoffs last year, and stuff I have never seen before from one of my teams as a sports fan. Soak it in guys, it won’t be this good very often in our lives…

Rollins’ error, Pedro Feliz’ clearly having money on the Rockies, and our inability to get hits with the bases loaded also might have factored into the final score.
I’m not going to do a live blog for Game 4, but I will have this post up for anyone who wants to talk about the game, as it is going on, in the comments. Hopefully we won’t be doing much venting, but it’s always good for that. I’ll certainly be around chiming in as well.

I can’t believe they threw Victorino that 3rd straigh fastball. He was late on the first one, early on the 2nd one, and smoked the third one. Nice AB Shane!

Hey Pete – wanted to send you an e-mail/message this weekend. Was at wedding festivities from Wed-Sun. and saw most of the games – but had little opportunity to talk/debrief them.
Lee seems to have trouble getting ahead tonight. Is it just the cutter that seems to be working?
wow – that was some serious sleight of hand by Lee getting out of there unscathed.
sometimes its takes Lee a couple innings to get settled. Though I have to say, the games he gets smoked don’t look much different from his shutouts. Just a few inches on and off the plate here and there and some luck/good hitting on the other side.
Re: Umps
Any sport, any year, any big game – this topic is going to come up. Deadspin had a good post about this today and I liked what they said that in baseball its a little more frustrating than say basketball/hockey or even football because those sports have some timing/judgement calls with vague rules (charge/blocking foul or pass interference/incidental contact). Whereas – these bad calls (throughout the playoffs) have been somewhat close (except that Mauer double) but calls that umps should make when its their only job.
I am a little worried that one more questionable call will start to add an aura of resignation/inevitablity among the fans – who need to be in this game.
This TBS strike zone thing is a great idea, but it really seems like it’s not even close
The TBS pitchmax or pitchtrax what ever the hell they call is a joke. The ESPN K-Zone is a lot better.
I like the idea of having it there for the whole AB though – which ESPN doesn’t do.
I’m also a huge proponent of the straight-on camera angle, which they never use. I think NESN uses it for Red Sox games.

Victorino looked safe, it was a good slide. Usually when the ball beats the runner, it doesn’t matter though.
