missed the whole game tonight - was checking on my iphone. went crazy when I saw the Ibanez HR. great to see Moyer giving us another solid effort too. Maybe he's figured it out.

if a starter struggles and we can't make a deal, I think the next guy we might see is Drew Carpenter. Since coming up for that spot start, he's tearing up AAA. In his 5 starts since going back down he's 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA. He's given up 27 hits, 6 walks, and struck out 22 in 34.1 IP.

Same story tonight. The Mets jump out to a lead. We keep staying after them, catch them, then overtake them for the win. The SNY broadcast team threw out a stat during the game. Over the last 42 games the Phils and Mets have played, they are split at 21 wins and 21 losses. Of the Phils 21 wins, the Mets have held the lead in 15 of them. (Add in tonight’s game and you’ve got 22 wins for the Phils with the Mets leading in 16 of them).

I can’t complain. We took 2 out of 3 in NY. We picked up a game on the Mets. We went 7-3 on the road trip. Even though we should have gone 9-1 and could have gone 10-0, I’ll take it. Like I said before, we went 8-2 on our previous 10-game road trip, which adds up to a combined record of 15-5. That’s pretty good, no? Start playing this way at home too and we’ll run away with the division.

Geez, Howard and Ibanez have had nothing but miserable at-bats tonight, haven’t they?

At least we got one back in the 6th, but Redding’s pitch count is pretty low so he’s not going anywhere soon unless we knock him out of the game.

Thanks for filling me in guys. I’m watching tonight’s game on SNY and I was able to catch some of the pregame show. They showed video of what happened and they also had brief taped interviews with both Utley and Pelfrey about what happened.

As far as tonight’s game, I’ve had more than enough of the Castillo-Cora-Beltran show. It’s the same thing over and over and over leading to single runs for the Mets in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

Meanwhile, Kevin Youkilis, I mean Tim Redding, is taking care of our vaunted left-handed lineup with relative ease. It’s maddening that pretty much any sinkerball pitcher, no matter how mediocre, can shut us down.

It was pretty neat to see actually. As the inning changed Pelfrey started barking at Utley as he ran by him. Utley just kept his head down and trotted in to the dugout. As competitive as Utley is I love the class he shows and how he plays the game. It was so satisfying to have him hit the game winner and let his game do the talking.

I agree Pete lets keep Taylor and Brown if at all possible.

Pelfrey got pissed when Utley called time and stepped away from the plate before one of the pitches in the at-bat. That much I know happened but the fact Pelfrey got so angry about something that insignificant makes me think something else might have happened in addition to that or there might be something in the past between the two we don’t know about.
