E.S., what do you offer A.Miller ? You have done everything right so far, love the Cheeks move; How about 3 yrs., declining value at 10, 9, and 8 million. Worst case in year 3 he mentors the future p.g. we draft in the next 2 years.

I do agree with Andre Miller and the intersesting comparisons to some of those old legendary point guards. Those guys were old yes, but they were well conditioned to still make a big impact. Andre Miller is a well conditioned athlete, an Iron Man. Rarely does he miss a game. Also, before the achilles injury to Brand, even his conditioning was great, similar to that of a Karl Malone. It would be cool if the Sixers do establish a Stockton-Malone kind of pick & roll. Of course, we will further examine the Stockton-Malone style of play when we talk about the Utah Jazz! Looking forward to that!! Durability and conditioning are very important and it develops consistency for a team!!

Feet shouldn't leave the floor if guarding Miller; just stay in front of him. Doesn't have standard J or springs. Usually waits for shooting opportunity through defender's mistakes...uses
passing threats, driving angles, pump fakes, up and unders. Smart player, but I'm surprised that he's pretty consistently successful on offense given his age-advancing natural arsenal and the athleticism of some defenders. His long arms help his cause.

Interesting article in the Daily News about <a href="http://www.philly.com/dailynews/sports/20080911_Andre_Miller_says_he_s_happy_with_Sixers.html" title="Andre Miller." rel="nofollow">Andre Miller.</a> Sounds like he really wants to stay with us. He also had a few nice things to say about Cheeks. Check it out.

JJG, wow that is quite a family tree there! Who is uglier than Philly,if Philly is the ugly stepsister? LOL

I hope though for one game, the Sixers should have a group picture and a special halftime ceremony for all living Sixers alumni to help celebrate the 60th Anniversary of this special franchise. (Not including guys that were there for a brief stint).

I hope Charles Barkley does attend one of those ceremonies, otherwise it would be "turrible". Charles is fun to watch and listen to!! Philly fans still love him!!

What I am serious about is having a post for all things Philadelphia (things that represent the true positive spirit of Brotherly Love: October 27th, the city's 326th Birthday!!) Wouldn't that be awesome if we do that?

Rob, I hear what you're saying regarding flipping the national image switch but it's a long way to Tipperary from here. "Rocky" has smelly armpits. Dr. J is a corporation unto himself; I never bought him as a Philly guy, though the ball-palmed acrobatics and flights to the hoop were fun to watch. Sixers do seem to have an intrinsic positive vibe at present, but I hear Derrick Coleman and Chris Webber have applied for Henry Bibby's vacant coaching spot and that their resumes are presently under review. All kidding aside, season should be fun for optimists and pessimists alike.

National media regard: father, NY; mother, LA; achieving son, Boston; workmanlike son, Chicago; ugly stepsister, Phila. Just the way it is.

JJG: According to Sixers.com, this is the coaching staff, but I do not think it is "THE" coaching staff for the 08-09 season:
<a href="http://www.nba.com/sixers/roster/" rel="nofollow">http://www.nba.com/sixers/roster/</a>

It would be nice if we can get more guys from the 82-83 season like: Andrew Toney (shooting), kept Moses Malone (rebounding), Bobby Jones, etc.

I hope Steve Mix does find a job, especially in the Sixers organization.

We need to revive the "Spirit of Philadelphia" and the "Brotherly Love" and reduce the "Negadelphia" image as much as we can. Even though ESPN is more New York and Boston based and start SportsCenter with those cities first, I want them to show Philadelphia and show positive things associated with Philly. Generally, when ESPN shows Philadelphia stuff, it is brief and when they go on to a further about Philadelphia, it is usually something regarding controversy. (The AI "practice" rant, AI and C-Webb no shows, AI trade saga, the TO saga, Jimmy Rollins "frontrunners" comment, Lito Sheppard saga, etc.) We need to clean our act and be less negative and be more positive. The Sixers organization is heading in the right direction in terms of great class!!! People should look up to that!!!

We should have a section dedicated to "The Spirit of Philadelphia"-- great things associated with Philly!!!! (Rocky, Dr. J, etc)

Philly Optimism (for one section)

I understand but still wonder about the flood of optimism, based on personnel influx, in a year where Moses Malone is again exchanged for Jeff Ruland. Mo, Mo, Mo! Will Cheeks be coaching Knicks or Spurs in a few years?

What was Darius Miles thinking when he decided to have a profanity-laced tirade on Mo Cheeks? Other coaches would eat a player alive if anyone ever did that.

One more year with more to come hopefully; This will be the MOST talented and LEAST knuckleheaded group of players Mo has ever coached and winning should help the guys who!s minutes get cut a bit, hopefully.
