Sixers vs. Bulls: Just Win a Freakin’ Game - Period

by Dannie

The Sixers are not a good team and just need to win a game to stop the bleeding.  They are on their 2nd three-game losing streak in the first 16 games of the season.

Keys to the game?  Just one: play hard and act like you love playing the game of basketball.  It’s a privilege to be playing basketball and playing in the NBA.  If you suck, you suck.  Fine, I can live with that.  But there is no excuse for the inconsistent effort and sluggish play we’ve seen so far this season.

I have no reason to believe the Sixers will win this game today, and frankly they don’t deserve my optimism.

That’s all I got.

I think everyone here shares your sentiments.  This inconsistency and lack of fire is driving us all crazy.

That said…I actually think Chicago is the type of team that we match up well with.  I’m putting this in as an automatic lock for us to win.  Their frontcourt is an offensive mess, they don’t have one truly effective frontcourt guy to rely on that’s consistent.  The rest of the team are athletic slashers, or guys that die by the jumpshot.

In fact, I can’t wait to see this game.  They are going to play right into our hands…just watch, Ben Gordon is going to do his “I enjoy destroying my team’s offensive chemistry by jacking it up 30 times a game” thing, go 7/22…Deng, as always, will be too much of a puss to actually use his talent and just settle for crap jumpshots that will clang out.  We’ll kill them on the boards, I can see Brand intimidating the hell out of Drew Gooden.  Derrick Rose will get his and be fun to watch, we get to laugh at the bad shot selection of Larry Hughes…this will be a good morale boost.

I have a feeling their missed jumpers are going to lead to a hell of a lot of fast break points for us.  I’m expecting to see Iguodala and Lou Williams have nice games, given how much I think we’ll be running, and how many easy buckets we’ll get.  We win this one by 10+.  Brand will have one of those 14-15 point, 15-16 rebound games.  Go Sixers!

Great call by Ike on WIP today:

“I keep telling people to be patient with this Sixers team, and to give them time.  Well, I’ll tell you what…it’s getting pretty hard to follow my own advice…I’m getting awfully fidgety and these guys are frustrating the hell out of me.  I’d say I’m looking forward to that 20 game mark, but we play LA and Cleveland soon, so we don’t even have that as a consolation.  This team needs to get moving, and fast.”

It’s the little things - like Mo being smart and bringing speights in when Sam gets his customary 2 first quarter fouls…

Mareese Speights is better than Sam Dalembert - right now

After the Boston Massacre I expected a better result tonight. Impressed with Gordon and Rose. Both are under control and look like they have played together for years.

Dave T - Optimism noted, not shared.

Suede - Giving this team too much credit.  A bad basketball team is a bad basketball team even if it’s our home team.

THey had a nice first quarter, and then per usual got stupid and forgot what worked in the first quarter, poor substitution patterns by Mo and the pick and roll move of the bulls killing em - drew gooden had 16 points (i think, maybe 18) at the half…just sad to watch this

Dannie, your numbers the other day sorta said we are pretty good defensively, the stats of our players, other than L.Will.  and Iggy are about what we expected; can this team with a little more time, actually play much better?

We still have to be patient with this team, but this brutal!

Andre Iguodala, Samuel Dalembert, where are you guys?
They cannot capitalize on mismatches.

All this game did was make me want to bite my pinky finger off.  What needs to happen to make this team play hard for 48 minutes? It’s ridiculous!  Im beggining to think that Mo Cheeks does need to go.  At first I didn’t but in the 3rd quarter we got outscored 31 to 11. I blame this offensive and some defensive breakdown on line-up issues. I think at one point, when the game was still within reach, I counted:  Lou, Ivey, Speights, Reggie Evans, and Rush were in the game.  How are we going to come back with that line-up on the court. I dont mind those players playing but at the same time?  I don’t see us making any kind of progress with those substitutions.

L.Will. has gone from a summer bargain to bargain basement. Mo, you have options, sit him for a few games, please !!!!
