I probably won’t have the opportunity to watch much, if any of this game so I will leave the post game analysis to you guys in the comments. This is a must win against ANOTHER injured team, that happens to be playing as bad or worse than our Sixers. Chris Kama has been out a month with a foot problem and Zack Randolph is out as well.
The Clippers made a lot of moves all of which have translated into a 8-22 record. If you are looking for a worse shooting team than the Sixers you will see them tonight. The Clippers are dead last in field goal % and eFG%. Only our Sixers shoot a worse 3-pt % and the Clippers are as bad from the foul line as well at 74%. We are talking about to anemic offensive teams facing each other tonight.
Deep down I want to say it. I want to say “the Sixers should win this game” but the disappointment of this season prevents me. The Sixers need to stop the bleeding. Their next 3 games are tough and as I said before this road trip they MUST beat the bad teams on their schedule if they want to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot. They are only 2 games back of the 7th and 8th playoff spot and they really just need to stay afloat. But if they slip up tonight we could be looking at an 8-game losing streak.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that and they get a much needed victory to start the new year.

Hopefully these Sixers start the year on a bright note. Of course one thing we know about this team is they don’t do well in should win and must win situations. It would be nice to see someone, anyone from the Sixers to step up and will this team to victory. As mentioned yesterday, that is the missing component.
I’m in Cali so I’m going to wish you guys an early Happy New Year and a safe start to the new year.
Just watched the game. Good effort game. Sometimes the 1/2 court offense or lack there of confounds me(beginning of 2nd half). Need to continue to incorporate all 5 players in the 1/2 court offense. Thad was impressive when included. Nice matchup between Thad & Thornton. Lou Will who I thought played a lousy game on O & D was left in there to play through his mistakes. That’s a good thing. Theo made a major impact off the bench for Sammy. Nice needed and must win. Found out I’ll be going Tuesday against Houston. I guess that’s the first game back after roadtrip. May be a tough one. Gotta believe that BDavis is regretting signing that contract with the Clips. He had a lot more fun when playing in Nellie’s system.
S.F.W., according to HOOPSHYPE , Sammy is available, quoted some N.B.A. execs.
Thad Young will be more then a 3rd banana Dannie!
Didn’t get a chance to watch much of the game last night was partying with Pete for New Years. Saw bits and pieces of it and followed the play-by-play on my phone a bit. Looks like Igoudala had his best 4th quarter of the season scoring 14 points which included 10-10 from the foul line.
Thad returned to form making 10-14 shots from the field (still very disturbing that he doesn’t get to the line at all).
The Sixers beat a team that shot the ball worse than they did. I will take it.
Greek – Why? Because he had a good game?
Throughout their careers Thornton and Thad will forever be compared. Physically, Thornton is I think 3 years ahead of Thad. Like Thortons physical power game but I think over the long haul Thad will become a better well rounded player once he gets stronger. Don’t understand Thornton’s obvious goal tending blocks off the backboard. He did that in another Sixer/LA games. Does he just want to put that in the players heads?
sfw,
I think thats what he is trying to do. Sometimes you don’t care about a goaltending because you are making a statement. I personally don’t like when players do that. Both teams are full of pro players who are more focused on making the shot, than whos trying to block the shot. But in Thorton’s case, I think he is trying to make a statement.
Looked to me like Andre put a lot of spin on that layup he took. I think 1 time maybe but not twice. Players do miss those layups.
Finally a win, and thank God for Theo Ratliff picking up the slack for Dalembert. Dalembert has to show improvement because Ratliff is not getting any older.
I mean younger!
Dannie: don’t look at stats or minutes or assertiveness. Thad’s game is so polished in what he does; the baby hook that ALWAYS falls in, the soft touch around the rim, the athleticism is even comparable to Iguodala’s. he has the tools to be a MUCH better version. if 3rd banana is his fate, then he will officially be a bust for me.
Jkay – We disagree. I don’t think Thad’s game is as polished as you do. He has no right hand, and his footwork on the perimeter is not very good yet. He often he travels when given an iso opportunity because is jab step and pump and go is unpolished.
Lefty hook is nice most times, rushed others. Athleticism is overrated. I prefer skill (shooting ability with range, post moves, handle etc.) not runners and jumpers.
He has developing game that if it all comes together could be special but polished isn’t an accurate word to describe it right now in my opinion.
