I was really looking forward to this game, the meta game before Evans went down. He is listed as doubtful with a sprained ankle.
Now my only interest is in whether or not the Sixers can start stringing winS together after a solid win vs. a good team.
Will they start getting on the right track with a win tonight or disappoint yet again?
It’s that simple.
This is your game thread. I’ll be around all night.

For some reason I get the feeling the Sixers are gonna have one of those games when a player like Omri Casspi goes for 25-30 pts & 7-10 rebs. Similar to how Jared Dudley did
Iverson guarding Donte Green. Good god man.
Going to put a lot of strain on the defense if they can get Green the ball in the post. Needs a lot of help.
Iverson now on Casspi. Luckily those two players don’t post up much and haven’t been able to capitalize.
GET BRAND IN THE GAME
Iguodala talking to the ref during a defensive possession. Dude give me a break.
OMG, Eddie Jordan we are getting fucking killed inside. Iverson can’t defend anyone in the post. Either start playing zone of get him or lou out NOW.
Now Jrue is getting posted up for lay-ups.
Jason Smith sighting. Hmmm, in the game before Speights.
Holiday has spotty, bad shot selection. He comes down and just shoots a pull up or forces a drive. I have no idea what runs through his mind on those plays.
Can’t stop the Kings even a little bit.
Want to see more of that Speights. Pass on the jumper and hammer that thing.
A nice win, since Elton bitched about effort young guys seem focused, and our coach has put in a regular rotation, though Jrue needs a little 2nd half burn.
Another nice effort on the road – the team showed a bit of fight. Now only 3.5 out of the 8 spot and the schedule in January doesn’t look too bad – am I overreacting to two games or might this team get ready to go on a run?
Nice game, but doubt we would have survived defensively if Evans were playing. I still am not too happy about Lou playing 40 min and Jrue only playing 5. Hopefully, that doesn’t become routine.
There’s not much doubt in my mind that the Sixers will be in contention for the 8th spot.
that’s a nice looking “2″ there Dannie.
I’m torn on whether I want this team to win. Long term, what is probably best is them losing, firing Jordan and getting a high draft pick.
On the other hand, it’s great to see Brand play better (though it appears he’ll never be what we signed him to be) and to see Iverson playing well and winning games again.
I guess it doesn’t matter what I want. Won’t affect what happens anyway.
Pete, totally agree; as the game goes on I am excited for the win, but afterward depression sets in, after top 5 picks it will be a crapshoot again. My one glimmer of hope is the Celts SEEM to be breaking down with injuries, if we catch them shorthanded, who knows?
Pete,
Jordan getting fired without the same to Stefanski is not a great thing to me. Stefanski should get fired. Bring a good GM in here to bring in his own coach.
Pete your very wise, I have the same feelings every game. We really need a top 5 pick
nice win but whooooaaa nellie whooooaaa! playoffs? this is the same sixers team we’ve been seeing for a while. too early
Elton Brand, Allen Iverson and Andre Iguodala. 3 main reasons we won. EB bulling and imposing his will on soft, perimeter oriented Kings frontcourt. impressive performance still. Iverson bringing some (really want to avoid the cliched ‘leadership’ here) timely scoring and some desire to win; he really gets the young guys to get a heads up attitude. Andre Iguodala who over the last 2 games has started to pass on his fadeaways and pass the ball. instead of killing us, he is avreaging 7 plus assists. i like this guy.
i guess when you win 2 games you will give the coach some credit for that. i dunno but EJ seems moire fired up. he’s still not coaching very well IMO. sooner or later, that lilliputian backcourt of Iverson and Williams is really gonna kick us in the nuts. Kings just couldnt execute steadily enough.
Ok, don’t kill me but I read John Smallwood on Philly.com and I agree with something he said to a point. The point that I agree with is trading for Tmac. Ok, but wait I don’t agree with trading iggy to get him. I do however think moving Thad and Sammy D who does have an expiring contract to entice the rockets with would be a good idea. You may have to move Willie G in that deal too but hey you already have two small guards anyway, 3 is far to many anyways.
Ok, so I envision Tmac, Ai, Iggy, Brand, Speights as the starting five. You get Tmac for at least a year or a willing Tmac that wants to prove something and stick around on a team that wanted him for at least 2 more seasons. Instead of going into the next draft hoping to sign yet another wing player the Sixers look for a big man ala Love, M. Gasol, B Lopez type who can catch and finish in the paint with good hands and feet around the basket. Iggy, Lou the draft pick, Speights are still young with a few high caliber vets is a plan and team worth watching.
They will sell tickets too. Who with me?
We’ve been talking about trading for T-mac LONG before Smallwood decided to write a Sixers related entry. He along with all the other terrible Sixers journalist are only talking about it now because the fallout finally happened in Houston and they are actively looking to trade him.
I’d be more inclined to give some credit if this was a credit idea. It’s not. Bloggers have been talking this for well over a month now.
OH and did you (everyone) happen to read the Bob Cooney article where Stefanski crawled from underneath the rock he’s been hiding under to give a few ludicrous quotes about how important defense is.
Team and franchise is a joke.
Pete Carril basically says Eddie Jordan is a moron.
Cooney really asked tough questions, didn!t he? I wish Fagen wrote for both papers and yes, who is P.Carril to say such things, it is not like he made this offense famous. That fluff piece by Cooney just about guarenteed to me that the Ed!s are joined at the hip and will both go down with the ship, and our coach isn!t going anywhere.
