Earlier this week ReclinerGM got it’s 1 millionth hit.
Hard to imagine for us when we started out 2 1/2 years ago with this first post, which was only read by friends and family (and to this day only has 374 hits).
We wanted to thank all our loyal readers who really make this a great place for intelligent sports discussion. We started the blog because we were sick of listening to radio and tv personalities spew out (mostly) garbage to stir up controversy without any hint of analysis or data to back it up. When we write things here, we back it up with facts and sound reasoning (not that we are always right, of course), and our readers do the same.
Since we are largely stat dorks, here are some other stats about the blog…
- As of 1:42pm, June 30th, 2010, we have 1,003,682 hits
- We’ve written 1,063 posts
- We’ve had 29,626 comments
- We’ve had approximately 220,000 different people visit the site
- We gotten visitors from 179 different countries.
- 93.7% from US and Canada. The next 3 countries are Brazil (0.6%), Australia (0.6%) and Germany (0.4%).
- Togo is last (1 visit)
- 1.3% of our visits come from mobile devices
- Our highest viewed post was the Worst Unis In Philadelphia History, which was published on CNNSI, and has over 35,000 views
- The most comments on one post is 337, as we followed the drama of the Roy Halladay/Cliff Lee deal
- To our knowledge, we’ve had stories linked on CNNSI, Yahoo! Sports, Sixers.com, NBA.com, Philly.com, UniWatch, and were quoted in the Inquirer (when they had their Blog Zone section) at least eight times.
We hope to reach 2,000,000 a lot quicker, and hope that everyone will stick around for the ride. Thanks again for your interest and participation and we hope we can continue to provide quality content and quality discussion while expanding into other areas and increasing our readership.

That’s a very reasonable goal, particularly wanting to increase readership.
I’m kind of mixed on that, as a reader. I’ve seen a fair amount of people post on here very scarcely, but frequently getting bang for their buck with pensive thoughts.
On the other hand, it’s a positive to read some of the people repetitively
because you develop a feel for their thought process, maybe even personality. The smaller family type atmosphere from that is nice, too.
Either way, I’m just a visitor here and appreciate the effort, and forum to vent and collect thoughts, and the hand is in the air high fiving you guys for the historic point in time.

Haven’t been visiting this site for terribly long, but very often since I first came across it. Since the only sport that I actually care about is basketball, a sport which is probably now 4th in this city, it’s great to have a site with such constant, insightful coverage of it. Keep up the good work, fellas!
