9 runs in 10 hits so far against Arizona. Something to do with power and lousy defense.

i know we haven't done much talking about the actual team, but the Phillies hitters have done a PHENOMENAL job of working the count against Haren tonight, who now has thrown 102 pitches through just 4.1 IP.

I'm with you Pete...it makes no sense to give up Happ for Lee...I would offer Carrasco, Taylor, and maybe a couple of midlevel prospects and thats it...I would give up anything for Halladay though....

Jayson Stark seemed to think that Drabek would have to be involved in a do-able deal for Lee as well. That would be a deal killer for me (for Lee, not for Halladay).

If you were really callous and willing to take a few years of pain I would send whatever is needed for Halladay and then in 2-3 years gut the team for prospects. You have to think that Howard, Werth, Rollins and maybe even Utley or Hammels could bring in a great hoard of prospects.

Then you rebuild for 2-3 years and come back with a great young team.

If I was playing a video game (like Baseball Mogul) that would be the smart move... but in real life I want them to win now and be in a position to continue winning without a downturn. I'm hoping Toronto blinks and they don't have to "sell the farm" but I guess we will know soon enough.

I would want to give up considerably less in a trade for Lee.. i would give carrasco and donald no problem. I like donald but i just dont think we need a top tier SS in our system.. jimmy rollins slump early this season showed all we need is a defensive player at that position and i'm more inclined to give up a position player for a top pitcher in the game right now.. i like carrasco but would rather have the upside of drabek wish he woulda pitched just a little bit better this year (carrasco).. either way i hope they make a move before the deadline i think we need it to put us in a almost garaunteed position to be playing at the same time we were last year..

That is really scary, also you have to expect some decline in Ibanez in his third year, and from what I read and hear, this Brown kid is an absolute stud. Think about it, all the hype from taylor and Drabek in the minors so far this season and Brown being hurt and still in Clearwater. He is still ranked almost ten slots higher in BA's top 50. That is saying something, he has the attitude, the look and the skills to be an all star on this roster. I want Halladay and I wanna win this year and next, but I wanna be in the playoffs for the next ten years and history tells you that these blockbuster deals don't get you there and destroy good farms.
