Well, there is a headline I didn’t think I’d ever be writing before the season.
Winston Justice, who has played very well in place of Shawn Andrews, was locked up by the team to be our RT for the next 4 seasons opposite Jason Peters. Looks like Justice and Peters are the new Thomas and Runyan.
The deal was 4 years, $18.6 million, a potential bargain if Justice continues to play well and a potential problem if he goes the way of the Andrews brothers.
It is somewhat surprising to me that the Eagles would shell out more money on the OL considering the absolute disaster that Stacy Andrews has been, but this deal seems reasonable.

The few times I’ve concentrated my attention on #74 he seems to be getting RB or other help and disaster strikes whenever he pulls from position and is the lead blocker, it’s always a loss of yardage situation.
At all the training camps I’ve been to, his performance in moving the tackling dummy is always the least impressive. Well I take that back he is usually tied for last with King Dunlap.
In short, I don’t think he’s very good.
Whatever happened to Max-Jean Gilies ?
Big Winston was snickered about on DNL by the local pundits at beginning of season. Must have mounted a great 10 game campaign (haven’t noticed). Or maybe the deciders stood straight stick Justice next to crooked stick S. Andrews and then rushed to secure his services for 4 years.
Mike – Max jean is hurt. I guess he’s ir’d.
This move is classic Banner/AR. Hope it pays off.
Best case, it will let them free up some cash (by cutting Andrews’s) to give DeSean the big payday you know is coming.
I’ve never really understood NFL contracts. Obviously Shawn will be released – but is it too early to release Stacy (before 2010 I mean)? Would that result is a big cap hit? Usually guys aren’t released until later in their contract.
Westbrook will be released as well.
